F1 teaser:

Brad Pitt will play a Formula 1 driver in Joseph Kosinski’s upcoming film, Top Gun: Maverick. The sixty-year-old American actor in the movie portrays a former driver who makes a comeback to Formula One with a rookie colleague played by actor Damson Idris, who was born in London. They refer to their fictitious squad as APXGP.

What’s in the trailer?

In the teaser, Brad, an F1 driver with extensive experience in the competitive world of racing, is introduced. The teaser trailer features a compelling conversation between Pitt’s character and Kerry Condon, who portrays his engineer, about designing a car for intense competitiveness rather than safety.

Pitt’s character says, “We need to build our car for combat,” highlighting the need of outwitting competitors on the difficult turns rather than the straightaways. When Condon’s character raises concerns about the safety implications, Pitt quips, “Who said anything about safe?” in response.

The teaser features exciting point-of-view racing sequences that allude to the heart-pounding excitement and inherent perils of the sport, all set to the upbeat sounds of Queen’s We Will Rock You.

About F1

Recently, Brad Pitt returned to filming at the British Grand Prix while wearing full racing regalia. F1 is a substantial investment for Apple, which paid between $130 million and $140 million, not including talent fees, for the package.

Along with Pitt and Condon, the ensemble cast stars Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

Co-producer Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, is involved in the project, which gathered film at Formula One tracks worldwide this year and last. To ensure realism, Hamilton was involved in the writing of the script.

Film was shot at the Hungaroring, which is close to Budapest, and Silverstone, the site of the British Grand Prix. Other locations included the famed Suzuka circuit in Japan, the historic Spa Francorchamps in Belgium, and the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi. Pitt spent Friday at Silverstone, where he is filming movie scenes in an adapted Formula Two vehicle. During his track time, he drives the car between sessions involving other racing series.

The movie F1 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 25, 2025.
